Jahangir Alam Shovon received the Smart Bangladesh Award

Jahangir Alam Shovon received the “Smart Bangladesh Award-2023” for his exceptional contributions to agriculture-based digital and innovative technology. Jahangir Alam Shovon is the Executive Director of the e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB). This prestigious award was presented to him for his involvement in the development of the “Smart-Krishak Smart Bangladesh” app, which is known for its advanced poultry farm management capabilities and is considered the top technical achievement in the Agro tech industry. This app, along with Jahangir Alam Shovon, was recognized as part of the winning team, led by agricultural technology entrepreneur Mohammad Shaheen.
The award ceremony took place on October 18, 2023, during the Sheikh Russell Day celebration at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who was originally scheduled to present the award at the Smart Bangladesh Summit on October 5, commended the continuous progress of Bangladesh and its extensive implementation of Digital Bangladesh in various service sectors.
At the event, ICT State Minister Mr. Junayed Ahmed Palak paid tribute to Sheikh Russell, the youngest son of Bangabandhu, who was tragically killed on August 15, 1971.
Jahangir Alam Shovon emphasized the importance of integrating technology into the agricultural sector to enhance agricultural production and provide consumers with digital access to poultry products and related information. His prior accolades include the Digital Bangladesh Award in 2021 for his contributions to improving the quality of life through information technology, as well as the E-Commerce Movers Award in 2020, recognizing his efforts in sustaining the supply chain during the pandemic.
Notably, Jahangir Alam Shovon serves as the Executive Director of the e-CAB and General Secretary of the Bangladesh Travel Writers Association. He is also an accomplished writer and social activist, with 16 published books to his name.
The award-winning team, responsible for the innovative poultry farm management app “Smart-Krishak Smart Bangladesh,” includes Manu Farms Chief Technical Officer and agriculturist Md. Abdullah Al Mahmoud, Manu Farms Chief Operating Officer Rumana Akter, and Manu Farms Co-Founder Alif Binte Shaheen. Manu Farms is the parent organization behind the app’s success.
